You thought taking the kids out was impossible? Think again! We have found some easy and fun ideas to keep the kids entertained and the parents sane. Throughout the week there is always an excuse to get out of the house. We’ve mapped out a week plan with some great ideas.

On a Monday take a stroll through Marion shopping centre.  There is a play area between Pumpkin Patch and Cotton On Kids on level 1 where you can have coffee and sit and watch the kids in a fenced off area. The area is open within all the usual shopping hours.

On a Tuesday head down to the Adelaide Central Market. It’s exciting for young children with all the people, colours, and smells. To make things easier, the market has a children’s entertainment area at the Grote Street entrance each Tuesday 11am to 1pm from May 24 to June 28.  The entertainment staff are all police cleared and it gives you a moment to relax and enjoy the whole shopping experience. The crafty workshops run by Splodge are free. For more information visit adelaidecentralmarket.com

On a Wednesday go watch a movie with your girlfriends and feel at ease that you can take your bub too. Event Cinemas  hosts ’Babes in Arms’ sessions on a Wednesday at 10am for just $8.50. Children under 4 are free. It’s a family session where parents, family, or even the babysitter are welcome. The lights are dimmed so it’s easy to access all the baby gadgets fast.

On a Thursday head down to Glenelg. In warmer weather the kids love splashing around the fountains in the square. In the colder weather rug up and go for a stroll down the wide footpaths along the beach. For the slightly older tots let them go wild on the tricycle as there’s no nearby traffic and the paths are wide enough that they won’t bump into passersby. It’s a good 45 minute walk from one end of the bay to the other. It’s great to get the kids moving and a peaceful break for you. Check out glenelgsa.com

On a Friday window shop through Harbour Town.  Near to the South Western Entrance is a huge playground. It’s big, colourful, and fabulous. Grab a takeaway coffee and watch the kids burn that energy! With the Airport nearby the kids will love seeing the planes take off! For more information visit harbourtown.com

The Adelaide Central Market has free face painting each Saturday 9:30am – 12pm. It’ll keep the kids happy while you find the perfect market spot for lunch. Visit adelaidecentralmarket.com

On a Sunday drive down to Goodwood. The Adelaide Showground Farmers Market has one hour sessions on a Sunday morning for kids. The Kid’s Club Kitchen runs all sorts of activities each weekend including ’Edible Science’,   ‘Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea’, and much more. For more information visit www.asfm.org.au

Most days there’s a chance to get back in touch with nature by visiting a park. Kids love running through grass, looking at bugs, and feeding the ducks. There are parks throughout all of Adelaide which are free for all.  Some include the Belair National Park, Wittunga Botanical Gardens, The Adelaide Botanic Gardens, Mount Lofty Botanical Gardens, Black Hill Conservation Park, Hallet Cove Conservation Park, and many more.
